Q: What happens if it rains?

A: This event will take place rain or shine! The start line is located at the pavilion, which is a large covered area. Please bring an umbrella or poncho to use during the actual run/walk if the forecast calls for rain

Q: How much does it cost to attend Miles That Matter?

A: Miles That Matter is a fundraising event. All participants are required to fundraise or donate $30 and will receive a pair of Easterseals Michigan sunglasses. Children ages 6 and under are free. Participants who fundraise $100 or more will receive an official event t-shirt

Q: How long is the run/walk?

A. We will have two routes: a 5k running route and a 1 mile walking route

Q: Where do I go when I arrive the morning of the event?

A: When you enter the gates at the front of the park, follow the signs to Eastwood Beach pavilion area

Q: Do I have to pay to park?

A: Yes! All vehicles are charged a $10 fee, unless you have a Metro Park pass

Q: Will breakfast be provided?

A: We will provide snacks, water, and coffee at the pavilion before the walk/run begins. A food truck will be available after the walk/run with food and snacks for purchase.

Q: How do I get an official Miles That Matter t-shirt?

A: In order to receive a t-shirt, every individual must fundraise $100 or more.

      Q: How many people do I need to form a team?

A: As many as you’d like. The more the merrier!

Q: Can I turn in money after the walk/run?

A: Yes, we will be accepting donations for one month after the event takes place. Participants can either turn the donations in online through the event website or mail in checks

Q: What should I wear if I run/walk through the color stations?

A: We encourage you to wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty or stained (see Q below). We also encourage you to wear something over your mouth (ex: bandana) and sunglasses or eye protection. Also, bring a towel for your car ride home to protect your seat

Q: Will the color powder stain my clothes?

A: The color powder is dyed cornstarch and environmentally safe and non-toxic. The color mostly washes out, but the sooner you wash it the better. To be safe, wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty or stained

Q: Is this a timed race?

A: Yes! This will be a chip timed race (5k only).

Q: Can children participate?

A: Yes! This is a family friendly event appropriate for all ages
